Amazon: Tambopata rainforest

Today we were up at 5:00am for our 2 hour ride canoe ride around Lake Sandoval. This is a great time to see the animals as they wake up. We saw howler monkeys, herons and caymans!..nice

Back to the lodge for breakfast then a 2 hour nature walk to learn about the Amazon trees and plants, how they are used for medicine purposes..one of the trees has the cure for malaria!..we even had some brazil nuts fresh off the tree!

Back to the lodge for a well deserved lunch of pork chops, rice, beans and broccoli..we are so well fed!...After an hour long nap, Neil and I ventured out and saw some McCaw parrots..got some pretty good shots too...

Another 2 hour boat ride to see the animals as they come to the lake to sleep..we saw the sunset..very pretty, we saw squirrel monkeys, capuchin monkeys and red howler monkey!...we also learned that when it is dark and you turn your flashlight on towards the shore, you will see many red eyes staring back at you..those are caymans..many of them...nice...

We also saw many stars...and back to the lodge for dinner...and sleep
